Norfolk schools' bid to revive the elm tree

Diss Church Junior School pupils with their Elm sapling which they are planting as part of the Great British Elm Experiment. Ellen Nicholas and Chloe Burrows.It is a tree that was commonplace across the British countryside two generations ago. But the relentless march of Dutch elm disease has virtually wiped the elm out, leaving it to live on in paintings like Constable's Haywain and in evocative place names such as Elm Hill in Norwich.

Florence and the Machine to headline Latitude Festival

Brit Award winners Florence and the Machine have been named as one of the headline acts at this summer's Latitude Festival. The critically-acclaimed band, led by songstress Florence Welch, will take centre stage at the festival along with fellow headliners indie pop band Belle and Sebastian, New York indie rock quartet Vampire Weekend, and Australian electric music duo Empire of the Sun.
